Memories of exploring outdoors dates back to childhood in NZ, but the passion for Canyoning & Sawanobori wasn’t triggered until I moved back to my homeland Taiwan. Amazed by the nature here, I continuously seek the deeper meanings beyond guiding people to embrace the canyons.

Brief Introduction of Sawanobori

Sawanobori was introduced to Taiwan from Japan, thus Japan is commonly considered as the Kingdom for this sport, while Taiwan is the paradise for these adventures. The canyons hidden in this mysterious island are way beyond the wildest imagination of the general public.

The vast diversity of streams and canyons itself is astonishing.

While Japan has approx 27 mountains over 3,000m, we have more than 270…

Canyoning is popular among western countries where canyoneers move downstream and descent waterfalls as they go along.

Sawanobori is basically only common in Japan & Taiwan. River tracers trek upstream and are often determined to trace to the source of the stream, which signifies the philosophy concepts of the East.

Have you ever imagined there are countless mystical wonders hidden in a place that can barely be seen on the map?

Many people visit the 100 famous mountains (over 3000m) in Taiwan, but when it comes to exploring the canyons and streams here…Don’t even think about accomplishing this in a lifetime and no kidding…

It’s a pity that foreigners love this incredible land more than ourselves! We seriously don’t know our homeland well enough.

I was eager to discover the mysteries locked in this paradise island.

Sensed the hidden stir in the vines, I set off on an inner voyage.

The more I come to know about Taiwan, the more I cherish being here.

Why is Canyoning & Sawanobri so different from hiking or other activities?

The way I see it, it’s a deep meditation trip to link and reunite with the Creator through embracing the flow of water, it includes all the messages from the Creator.

Some nights my visions are surprisingly clear. As a Canyoning guide, I wish to share with those enslaved by modern anxiety and be set free with the breath of real nature upon walking in the sacred canyon temples of the creator.
